Cultural Attractions Walking Distance from our Hotel in Bucharest

Bucharest , Romania houses some of the finest architecture in Europe. The city of Bucharest was remodeled, in the late 19th century, by French trained architects, and became known as 'Little Paris'. If you enjoy Paris and all it has to offer you should certainly take the time to visit Bucharest - It shares much of its charm at a fraction of the cost.

You will enjoy the many Museums, Theatres, Opera Houses, Concert Halls and Art Galleries that the city has to offer. Here just a few of the attractions located near our Hotel in Bucharest:

Bucharest is composed of tree lined boulevards and glorious Belle Époque architecture which is often associated with the French Capital. Bucharest even features a Triumphal Arch on the elegant Soseaua Kiseleff, a boulevard longer that Paris' famed Champs-Elysees.

One of its most famous buildings in Bucharest, the 'House of the People' is just a minutes walk from the hotel. This building was constructed during the 21 year of Nicolae Ceausescu’s dictatorship. It is the largest building in Europe and the second largest in the world. Only Romanian materials and products were used to build what supposed to be the headquarters of Romania's last communist leader. Materials include:

  • local marble
  • cherry and walnut paneling
  • crystal chandeliers
  • specially commissioned hand-woven tapestries
  • carpets and draperies

Now renamed the Palace of Parliament, this magnificent building of 1,000 rooms reflects the work of the country's finest architects and artisans.

Herastrau Park is the largest park in Bucharest. Opened in 1936, the park is divided into two zones:

  • The Village Museum, which is one of the biggest and the oldest outdoors museum in Europe. Its exhibits – genuine monuments including houses, pens, churches, water and wind mills, cloth mills, of great historic and artistic value - acquaint the visitors in two hours with the specific of the Romanian village. The objects inside the households - carpets, pottery, rugs, icons, furniture - point to the originality of the folk creation, the sensibility and care for the beauty of the rural people.
  • A public domain with open areas for recreation activities such as small boat rentals, floating bars and restaurants.

This is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon surrounded by the serene and rustic scenery.

The Romanian Peasant Museum, is a national museum, under the Minutesistry of Culture’s patronage (part of the European family of Museums of Popular Art and Traditions). The museum is located in a Neo-Romanian historical building showcasing an especially rich collection of textiles, icons, ceramics, and other artifacts of Romanian peasant life.
