Bucharest is a nice city that has been visited by 1.5 million tourists in 2015. In the other blog posts we presented what the city has to offer: fascinating architecture, big parks, nice cafes and restaurants, big malls and cultural attractions. As with any other big city, Bucharest has its good parts and bad parts as
well. Don’t confuse the negative aspects with the description of the city. We just want you to know what to avoid when travelling to Bucharest.
Beware of taxi drivers
We already mentioned that if you use taxi services you should install an app named Star Taxi. A lot of people use it and they are satisfied. Some taxi drivers in Bucharest charge more than it costs. To avoid this, use Star Taxi app – you can order a taxi with just few taps. It works like a charm and taxi drivers registered there are always fair (you can see how clients rated them on the app).
Avoid the outskirts of Bucharest
Most good hotels are located in the central areas of Bucharest. Le Boutique Hotel Moxa is located on Calea Victoriei, a perfectly safe area where you can feel safe even after dark. As a tourist you won’t have to go at the peripherals of Bucharest, there is nothing to see there. In case you have to, ask a friend or a business partner to come with you. Don’t wander alone in unknown areas of the city.
Don’t talk to weird strangers
Romanians are nice, warm people but like in any other place, you can never know what weird people might play tricks on you. Avoid strangers that approach you with weird stories, they are always up to something. They might tell you they are lost, or they want to help you or pretend to have an issue. So, don’t be afraid to ask for help, directions, etc., just avoid people that come to you pretending to help, or ask for help in a strange manner.
Honestly, you don’t really want to take the bus while in Bucharest. You’d rather use Star Taxi app as the taxi drivers registered there don’t charge much. To arrive from the airport at Le Boutique Hotel Moxa costs around 3-4 euro. The traffic is pretty bad in Bucharest so you will find the taxi very efficient and not costly.
Bucharest is a nice city but you must stay away from anything that looks and sounds suspicious. We hope you have a safe stay in the capital of Romania!
